Why Tire Blowouts Happen and How to Handle Them

The folks at Willis Volvo Cars want you to know that tire blowouts can happen without warning. However, there are ways that you can prevent them from happening. For instance, older tires or those that are rotting should be replaced before you drive again. Tires can be rotated to prevent uneven wear that may result in a sudden blowout.

If you have any doubts about the condition of your current tires, it may be best to have them replaced. Ideally, you will have all four replaced to ensure consistent handling throughout the vehicle.

If your tire does pop or shred, do not slam on the brakes or take other sudden actions. Instead, take your foot off of the gas pedal and wait until you can regain control of the vehicle. Once you have regained control, pull over to the side of the road and call for help.
